About Me

I’m Josie V. Williams, an interdisciplinary coder, creative technologist, and digital artist with a passion for exploring the intersections of technology, art, and culture. My journey began with a degree in Computer Science from NYU, where I researched bias in predictive health models, a project that led to presentations at NeurIPS and NYC Media Lab. These experiences sparked my interest in using technology as a tool for social impact.

Driven by the desire to empower communities, I founded Algorithmic Equity, a digital platform that allows New Yorkers to document and respond to local law enforcement behavior. Through this initiative, I’ve had the support of community leaders and joined NEW INC's incubator to further refine community-centered tech solutions. My dedication to equity also led me to Afrotectopia, where I explored designs for healthy Black futures. My next endeavor was Ancestral Archives, an XR experience inspired by the Black radical theology of James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, Octavia Butler, and Zora Neale-Hurston, I sought to challenge conventional uses of technology. My latest piece, eye to eye, brings attention to global issues in tech production, inviting viewers to confront ethical complexities in today’s technology landscape. I view each project as an opportunity to redefine digital spaces as avenues for connection, introspection, and justice.

I also had the privilege to develop the back-end of several projects like "WisdomBot", which was showcased at the Guggenheim's Late Night Shift, the "DISCO Book Jam Cabins", and "Slut Detector", which helped me hone my coding capabilities regrading LLMs and application development.
